Peak 2 Peak
A Guinness World Record
Summer in the Whistler Blackcomb alpine is an experience you will always remember. As the season changes, so do the activities, giving you something new every month of the year!
This Guinness World book of records holder spans 4.4 km with only four towers that support the lift. It only takes 11-minutes to travel 8,850 metres and is the longest unsupported span in the world at 3.024kms and the heights in the world at 436 meters above the valley floor.
The Peak 2 Peak has played a big part in getting global recognition for Whistler; it has been instrumental in putting Whistler on the map. Since its conception in 2008, it has helped to attract 2,000,000 sightseeing and hiking visits.
”Since its opening in 2008, the PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola has inspired guests from across the globe to glide 436 meters above Whistler’s valley floor, suspended between two towers at the record-breaking distance of 3.024km apart. Not only does the lift transport guests between Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains in only 11 minutes, but it also allows guests of all ages and levels of mobility to access a unique alpine experience.”
Peak 2 Peak is open year-round, giving you a different experience throughout the year. Head up in the summer and spend hours hiking and exploring around volcanic rocks, shale slopes, flowered meadows, lakes, and glaciers. In May you can experience the snow walls, then in June head up to the glaciers and get an up-close look while hiking trails as far as the eye can see. July welcomes wildflowers and access to all of the trails amazing for hiking and running throughout August and September.
New to Whistler Blackcomb is the Skyraker Suspension Bridge which is located at the top of the Peak Chair. It spans 130 metres from the Whistler Peak to West Ridge and is the perfect cherry on top of an amazing day in the alpine. Children 6 and under are free with a paying adult and must be 40″ to tackle the bridge. This experience is included in your Peak 2 Peak ticket so don’t miss out on this amazing experience.
