Mountain Top Sightseeing
Mountain Top Sightseeing
Explore the Top of the World
When you come to Whistler you want to make sure you take in all the sights including the ones 7,000 feet up.
See bears in the wild foraging for berries as their cubs wrestle in the long grass. Try to spot a marmot singing the song of its people and you will understand how Whistler got its name. Make sure you experience all of the natural beauty of the mountains firsthand by heading up the gondolas and trying a new hike with some sightseeing from the top of Whistler and Blackcomb mountains.
Get a birds eye view of Whistler Village while you explore the mountain peaks and see the surrounding lakes, glaciers, and forests. Whistler Blackcomb boasts hiking trails for everyone so grab a map and start exploring. If you’re looking for short family friendly walks or more advanced hikes you will find them on the mountain tops.
Complete your day by trying out one of five different restaurants open for on-mountain dining. On Whistler Mountain the Roundhouse Lodge, Steeps Grill & Wine Bar and Harmony Hut are open year-round along with Rendezvous Lodge and Horstman Hut on Blackcomb Mountain. Or why not have a picnic with the family and take in the stunning views from one of the many outdoor patios. Be sure to check out the 2010 Olympic and Paralympics Games display that is located inside the Roundhouse Lodge or watch some inspiring alpine videos inside the Samsung Alpine Theatre.
During the summer months you can head up and check out the snow walls. Take the Whistler Gondola up to the Roundhouse and hike over to the Peak Chair. Head up the Peak Chair and walk down Pika’s Traverse to see these giant snow walls. It is an easy hike but give yourself 60 to 90 minutes round trip and don’t forget to wear the proper hiking shoes and take water.
