A Guide to Whistler’s Crankworx Festival

Get ready, the two-wheeled masses are about to descend on Whistler for the world’s premier freeride mountain biking event. Crankworx Whistler returns July 21-30^th, 2023, to celebrate its world-class event. This 11-day multi-disciplinary mountain bike festival will see some of the world’s best compete for freeride glory and in the process celebrate epic endurance, supreme flow, monster air, and vertical-dropping riding.

This competition is not just for the professionals, though and will see hundreds of amateurs proudly sharing the same course with their heroes. Plus lots of cheering/heckling, Concert Series, photo and video contests, Kidsworx, exhibitions, demos, clinics, parties and of course, the après.

So how should you spend your time in Whistler during Crankworx?

Grab your bike and get ready to try out all that Whistler has to offer. Your time will likely be spent on the trails or at the base of Whistler watching world-class athletes in their element.

If you enjoy watching downhill biking but would prefer something less extreme for yourself, check out Whistler’s cross-country mountain biking trails for over 200 km of trail terrain. If you want to avoid some of the crowds, head to Creekside to get out of the bustling village, it’s only a 15min drive away. There’s also a multitude of activities to spend your time adventuring and exploring Whistler.

There’s more to Crankworx than biking if you can believe it. Every year, the Dirt Diaries film competition takes place where 6 teams showcase a “slice of one athlete’s diary”.

Put down your camera and take it all in. Nothing can capture the buzz and feeling of Crankworx more than being there yourself and experiencing it. On that note, be prepared for rain or shine; the crowds will be out no matter the weather.
