Whistler is home to one of the world-famous mountain bike parks that host multiple events! Gear up and get ready to find out more about mountain biking in Whistler!
CRANKWORX
This glorious event blesses Whistler in August annually bringing joy to all. Crankworx is the must-attend event of the year! Some notable events to check out are Joyride, Whip-Off, Clif Speed & Style, Deep Summer Photo Challenge, and Dirt Diaries. Watch the notorious Joyride where pros battle it out in the boneyard throwing the sickest tricks known to man. Watch athletes throw their bikes as sideways as possible on one of Whistler’s iconic jump lines, who will take the title of Whip Off Champion? Watch as two competitor battle it out against each other on a timed run all while trying to out trick the other in Speed & Style. Five photographers and one wildcard entry have three days to capture the essence of Whistler and its biking culture to throw down their epic slideshows at The Deep Summer Photo Challenge. Six Filmmakers compete to create a 4-6 minute film that captures the audience, this is a must-see event!
TOP CROSS COUNTRY TRAILS
Green
Lost Lake Trail Network – Fun Fact: All green trail names pay homage to Whistlers rich logging history. Names such as Molly Hogan which is a technique used to splice together wire cables used by logging crews or try your luck on Donkey Puncher which was a steam-powered machine known to haul logs around camp. Lost lake green trails are easy and fun for the whole family.
Blue
Lord of The Squirrels
Prepare yourself for the climb of your life. Make sure to bring lots of food and water. This trail is rated blue but easily feels like a black after you factor in the effort and exertion when descending after the few hours you just spent climbing. There is no other trail like this in Whistler. Lord of the Squirrels is a high alpine trail so make sure you have clothing for the sudden change of temperature and don’t forget your phone or camera to capture this one of a kind scenic journey.
Lost Lake Trail Network – Is named after Frank Zappa which have psychedelic names such as Toads of the Short Forest, Fountain of Love, and Dwarf Nebula. Lost Lake offers a vast network of blue trails, but beware there is a big jump from Lost Lake blue trails to blue trails in and around Whistler.
Cut Yer Bars – The name says it all. Do you consider yourself good at maneuvering? Maneuver through tight trees and watch out not to clip your handlebars!
Black Diamond
Yummy Nummy to Foreplay – There are lots of rocks and roots on this trail. Be sure to take your time and enjoy the view as you pedal through an old growth forest.
Micro Climate – This is a Whistler Classic. Please note, this trail is not suitable for wet weather riding.
Pura Vida – Chuteie, loose, and roots galore so expect a challenge. There are no major obstacles to be aware of.
River Runs Through It – Is a fun trail that is full of woodwork features. Most features have an easier ride around option if you’re not feeling 100% on your game. Give it you’re all on this trail or just have fun playing on the features however you choose to ride this trail its a loved local trail.
Double Black
Green Monster – Get ready to look fear in the face and maybe have your doctor on call just in case because this trail is three words; gnarley, steep & loose. Nuff said.
Working Class – If High Society & Pura Vida trails had a baby they would have named it Working Class. The perfect combination of both trails Working Class offers up some interesting rock lines accompanied by a handful of chutes.
Hey Bud – This is a soft, loamy trail. Watch out for all the switchbacks on the steep bits, through the big tree forest and moss-carpeted forest floor.
Cheap Thrills – Is a technical flow trail known for its surprises around every corner. Don’t let the Flank trail turn you off of this beauty.
TOP DOWNHILL TRAILS
The Whistler Blackcomb Bike Park boasts some of the best and gnarliest riding found in the world but offers trails for all riding abilities.
Green
Del Boca Vista – A great warm-up ride for all levels taken at any speed. A good trail for beginners learning to ride tech.
EZ Does It – This is a great warm-up trail to get used to the bike park. Nice and flowy.
Shady Acres – a nice mellow trail immersed in a beautiful forest.
Blue
Crank It Up –This trail is flow heaven! Use this is an intermediate warm-up trail or send it. Lots of jumps to clear or practice your whip!
Blue Velvet – This is a very long trail starting from the top of Garbanzo Chair. Long, steep, loose with lots of fun berms and small jumps.
Oriental Express – Made up of three trails: Samari Pizza Cat, Karate Monkey, and Ninja Cougar which are great introductory intermediate technical trails with great corning, rocks and roots, downhill version of pump track.
Bline – Great warm up trail for intermediate riders and a great beginner trail for those looking to move from greens to blues. Lots of berms to practice cornering on.
Earth Circus – Located in Creekside this trails is fairly new but has lots to offer. It features lots of berms, fast rollers, and lots of hidden opportunities to get some air.
Black
Top Of The World – This iconic trial is a must do if you’re in the bike park. Take the Peak Chair to the top of Whistler This trail offers 5,000 ft of riding which makes it the longest trail in the Whistler bike park. Prepare to have your mind blown with spectacular views. built up berms, switchbacks, and fun flowy descent.
Aline – A must do trail if you’re into long, fast, jump trails with big berms, table tops, and natural rock drops. Generating stoke in bikers every day!
Angry Pirates – Is flowy technical with tight switchbacks and so much fun! This is a great trail if your planning to make the jump from blues to blacks.
No Joke – Roots rocks and natural drops. Like the name says this is no joke, ride this trail with a serious approach.
Double Black
Schleyer – Technical, rocks, roots, drops and jumps. You must be an advanced rider and not have commitment issues. Time to get sendy!
Joy Ride – Littered with many large drops and rock features to watch out for.
Canadian Open – Is a mix of Schleyer and Joy Ride combined!
