Sea to Sky Golf Getaway
Whistler hosts some of the finest golf courses in all of B.C! If you’re thinking of taking a golf getaway, read our prep-list for all you need to know!
We love golf getaways but sometimes packing can be tough and time-consuming, and then there’s always that one item you forget. We’ve taken the time to compile a list to make your life a little easier, less stressful, and give you more time to do the things you want to do.
CLOTHING
Fun Socks – Nothing starts the day off right like putting on fun colorful socks! If anything they will be the talking point of the day!
Bathing Suit– An essential vacation item but the most forgotten. Don’t forget your bathing suit, for soaking in the hot tub after a long day of golf. It will not only help relax you but it will help rejuvenate your muscles for tomorrows game!
Hat – Number one in keeping the sun out of your eyes so you can make the perfect shot.
Casual Shoes – Bring sandals for enjoying off the course.
Golf Shoes – To ensure your feet stay dry and have good grip.
Rain Jacket – The weather is unpredictable, what could look like a nice bluebird day can unexpectedly turn into afternoon showers. Bring a rain jacket in case things turn south.
Polo Shirt – Don’t forget your collared shirts as they are required on all Whistler Golf Courses.
Sweater – Unless its midday the mornings can be brisk and the evenings can cool down quickly once the sun tucks behind the mountains.
Pants & Shorts – This comes down to preference and weather. We suggest bringing two of each just to be sure.
GOLF GEAR
Golf Clubs, Golf Bag – Wouldn’t want to leave these at home or you’ll be left renting your equipment. Luckily, the Whistler golf courses do offer high-quality rentals if that’s the route you want to go.
Balls & Tees – Always keep a few spares in your bag, it will save you from bushwacking looking for lost balls or as we call it easter egg hunting for adults.
Gloves– Not essential but always a bonus to have and they do help with grip, plus they look stylish.
Ball Markers – When on the greens ensure you’ve got a ball marker to keep track of your position.
Miscellaneous
Pro shops feed off golfers who forget simple items that create ease and comfort. Don’t be a forgetful Freddie, but if you are Kahlil Gibran puts it perfectly, “Forgetfulness is a form of freedom”.
Drivers License – if you’re planning to coast through the course on a golf cart be sure to bring your drivers license for your registration at the pro shop.
Snacks – Beware the Bears! A little Granola bar might be okay but if you pack a sandwich your golf bag might be under attack. The golf courses have lots of great selections at the pro shop and 9th hole, and of course, the cart girl will swing by frequently.
Drinks – If you’ve got a sweet tooth a bit of juice or pop is okay to bring along; however, if you’ve got a craving for something stronger beware that self serve alcohol is prohibited on all Golf Courses. The Course restaurant, cart girl, or 9th hole hut can sell you alcoholic beverages to quench your needs on the day of your round.
Water Bottle – Bring a reusable water bottle. There are plenty of water stations along the cart paths to ensure you don’t get dehydrated.
Sun Protection – sunscreen and sunglasses are a must – nothing will ruin your day more than an uncomfortable sunburn.
Insect Repellant – Don’t suffer the wrath of annoying mosquitos.
