The World Ski & Snowboard festival has a free outdoor concert series, pro-athlete ski and snowboard competitions, photography and film events, endless nightlife, and some of the best spring skiing and riding that you will find in North America.
The WSSF Music Series is held on the main stage which is located in Skiers Plaza, right in the heart of all the action. There will be two big names hitting the stage over the weekend including A Tribe Called Red on Friday April 13 and Jazzy Jeff on Saturday April 14
Music isn’t the only thing that you should watch out for this season, the Arts bring it every year and the Pro Photographers Showdown is no exception. Some of the world’s best compete for the title of Best of Show and the competition this year is stiff.

The showdown takes place on Thursday April 12 at the Whistler Conference Centre starting at 9:00pm, doors open at 8:00pm.
Picture yourself only given 72 hours to shoot, edit and produce a 3 – 5 minute short film within a 100km radius of Whistler, impossible you say, not for the chosen few……Welcome to the 72 Hour Filmmakers Showdown. Teams from all over are given this daunting task of creating a film that will entertain 1500+ people to not only win over the judges but the crowd because both has money riding on it, $10,000 to be exact.
The Olympus 72HR Filmmakers Showdown takes place on Wednesday April 11 at the Whistler Conference Centre starting at 9:00pm, doors open at 8:00pm
Intersection features artistic snow sport film crews from around the world that will be pushed to the limit trying to capture, produce and edit a 5-7 minute ski/ snowboard film in just 7 days. This stunning artistic vision features footage within 100kms of Whistler with 75% on-snow and contains 30 seconds of both park footage and in-bounds WB terrain. These guys and girls will be pay homage to this amazing world-class destination through these industry leading films.

MULTIPLICITY has become a favourite for festival-goers due to its unique nature of storytelling, photography, slideshows and video. The event has been compared to a TEDTalk on adrenalin with stories brought to you by explorers, athletes, outdoor thought-leaders, and passionate personalities from the mountain world. This is a must-see celebration of true mountain and adventure culture presented by Mountain Life Media
MULTIPLICITY will take place on Tuesday April 10 at the Whistler Conference Centre starting at 8pm, doors open at 7pm
If you haven’t heard of Borderstyle then you are not alone, this sport is relatively new with it going from an experimental event to a legitimate tour with 4 different stops and $50,000 in prize money on the line. This one of a kind snowboard contest kicks off in Fernie in March and finishes during WSSF in April.
The event itself is a hybrid boardercross, slopestyle, obstacle race where 4 riders run the gauntlet simultaneously. The finish line consists of a table-top jump where contestants are required to do a full rotational trick. Riders will be placed in the order they cross the finish line unless the person behind performed a superior trick. The course itself consists of jibs, jumps, berms, rollers, pond skims, spines, step-ups, and a dj bringing up the high level of energy.
Boarderstyle will take place Friday April 13 from 12:05 – 2pm for timed runs. Finalists will compete Saturday April 14 at 1:20pm.
After a 15 year hiatus, the Saudan Couloir Ski Extreme Race, the worlds steepest ski race, is back. The race started back in 1987 and is set to be a festival highlight in 2018 bringing out the legends of ski racing, big mountain pros and amateur skiers who have no fear, but hopefully some talent.
The course itself will start at the tip of the Saudan Couloir on Blackcomb Mountain and end at the Glacier Creek Lodge. You will be able to view the race from the Rendevous patio or the Glacier Creek Lodge patio, both giving different views of the course.
The Saudan Couloir Ski Race will take place on Saturday April 14 starting at 11am. *Race will be weather dependent
If you have what it takes to ski across an icy cold slushy pond then this is the event for you. Anyone can enter and there will be prizes for Best Costume, Best Trick, Best Wipeout and more. This is a great way to spend your afternoon
The Slush Cup will take place on Sunday April 15 at 12pm
