Rainy Day Activities in Whistler
Being on the West Coast, rainy days happen during the shoulder season and it can get a bit damp in Whistler, but don’t let get you down. There are plenty of things to do when it is raining including going for a swim, throwing an axe or trying to escape from an imaginary pin ball machine in only 45 minutes. Here are a list of activities from North to South of Whistler Village to help you make the most out of your time in Whistler while staying dry.
Alpine Meadows
Meadow Park Sports Centre
Meadow Park is the place to be rain or shine because it has not only a gym but a swimming pool, hot tub, sauna, squash courts and a skating rink. Take a class with one of the trainers or try your hand at a Canadian favorite, ice skating. Family passes available which allow you access to the entire property, so go ahead, spend the day.
Location
Meadow Park is located north of the Whistler Village in Alpine. You can drive there or catch a bus, pretty much every bus going north will stop at the sports centre. Parking is ample and it is open from 6am to 10pm daily, check out their website for the centres schedule of events.
Whistler Village
Escape! Whistler
Escape! Whistler was voted the #1 best rainy day activity in Whistler so of course it is going to be one of the top on our list. This unique activity is not only fun but also makes you work together as a team to solve puzzles, find clues and put together riddles to escape before your 45 minutes is up. There are 4 rooms, each with their own story and set of clues. Do you have what it takes to escape?!
Location
Escape! Whistler is located right next door to the Crystal Lodge in the Hilton. Head over to back entrance and down the stairs next to Misty Mountain Pizza and it will be located on the left. Check their website for hours.
Imagine Village 8 Cinemas
There is nothing better than grabbing a bag of popcorn and watching a movie on the big screen. Grab a matinee with friends or have family night at the movies while taking in some action or romance. Whatever you are in the mood for, Whistler has it with 8 different movies to choose from.
Location
Imagine Cinemas Village 8 is located just steps from the Crystal Lodge making it the perfect location even if you forgot your umbrella. They open for matinees around 3pm, check their website for movie times.
The Core Whistler
At the heart of The Core, lies a 5,500 square foot indoor climbing rock wall. Each section is mapped out allowing individuals of all levels to navigate a way up the wall. You can spend your time bouldering or you can learn how to belay with a friend. Don’t worry if you have an odd number, the auto belay systems will take care of that. You can also hire on a professional to help you reach new levels, skies the limit!
Location
The Core is located right beside the Crystal Lodge & Suites. Just exit out the parking lot side of the building and up the covered stairs by Evolution. You only have to go four steps to get to the stairwell of The Core. Rainy days won’t get you with this location. The Core is open from 7am – 10pm, check out their website for more information
Function Junction
Whistler Bounce
For all of you that are still a kid at heart, Bounce is the place for you. This indoor trampoline heaven consists of hours of fun for any age. Practice your flips for the park or hone in your inner aerialist in this covered facility. Spend the afternoon bouncing the time away while also limbering up, great way to beat the rain.
Location
Bounce is located in Function Junction, south of Whistler Village. Once you turn into Function make a left at the 3 way stop and Bounce will be on your right next to Whistler Brewing. Bounce opens at 9am and has drop in sessions all day for different ages. Visit their website for the daily schedule.
Forge Axe Throwing
Looking to free your inner Lumberjack? Forged Whistler is the perfect place to done your plaid and show the wood who’s boss. Spend an hour at a drop-in session where you can learn the basics or get a group together and do a private lesson where you can learn how to weld an axe like a pro. Children over 10 years of age can have a hand at throwing, the whole family will be nailing those bullseye in no time flat!
Location
Forged is located in Function Junction just after the natural right on the main road. There is parking out front and is located right beside Coast Mountain Brewery just in case you want to make it an afternoon. They are open 7 days a week from 11am to 11pm. Visit their website for more information.
