All the hikers, raise your Nalgene covered in stickers! It’s time to discover easily accessible terrain via Whistler Blackcomb and hike until you drop… or find a good view!

The key to any good Whistler hiking adventure is preparation. Pack two or three Nalgene bottles full of water and a good hearty lunch, leave a trip plan, and gather some good friends. You can access the Whistler Blackcomb backcountry trails via the gondola to bump into the alpine or hike up the Singing Pass Trail (Whistler) or the Ascent Trail (Blackcomb).

The Whistler Gondola offers a unique and convenient way to access some of the region’s most breathtaking trails. It takes you from the village base to the Roundhouse Lodge on Whistler Mountain in a matter of minutes.

Some amazing trails include but are not limited to:

1. Whistler Peak

Start your adventure with a ride up the Peak Express chairlift from the Roundhouse Lodge to the top of Whistler Mountain. From here, you can get to Whistler Summit Interpretive Walk. This short loop offers educational plaques about the local flora, fauna, geology, and views of the surrounding mountains.

2. Harmony Lake Loop

For a moderate hike, the Harmony Lake Loop is a fantastic option. This 1.9-kilometer trail winds through alpine meadows bursting with wildflowers and circles Harmony Lake. The relatively gentle terrain makes it perfect for families and those seeking a leisurely hike.

3. High Note Trail

The High Note Trail is a must-do for avid hikers. Starting from the top of the Peak Express, this trail offers a challenging 9.4-kilometer trek that rewards with breathtaking views of Cheakamus Lake and the surrounding Garibaldi Provincial Park. This trail takes you through alpine ridges and lush meadows, providing a backcountry experience.

4. Musical Bumps Trail

For those seeking a longer adventure, the Musical Bumps Trail is an extension of the High Note Trail. Spanning approximately 20 kilometers, this trail takes you on a journey across rolling alpine terrain, offering spectacular views and a sense of solitude and serenity. It eventually connects to the Singing Pass, leading you back to Whistler Village.

5. Overlord Trail

On the Blackcomb Mountain side, accessible via the Peak 2 Peak Gondola from Whistler Mountain, the Overlord Trail offers a stunning 7.5-kilometer hike. This trail leads you through alpine meadows and past the glacial Overlord Lake, with incredible views of the Overlord Glacier. It’s a fantastic trail for those looking to explore the scenic beauty of Blackcomb Mountain.
