Whether you are in the classroom or out on an adventure, there are plenty of ways to learn something new. Make Whistler your newfound classroom this fall and explore nature for a change. See our top kid-friendly activities to enjoy on your Whistler adventure below.

1. Write Your Name in Nature
Collect some natural materials on a walk through nature. Remember not to disturb the environment and be careful while gathering your materials.
Pinecones, moss, flowers, branches, pebbles, pine needles, and a fern – all things that can be used to write your name in nature.
Find a spot, whether it be on a rock, or the forest floor, spell out your name to leave your mark.

2. Become the King or Queen of The Crystal
Every King or Queen needs a crown! This activity is perfect for the fall when you have plenty of colourful leaves to choose from!
- Gather colourful leaves and take them off the stem
- Fold the bottom of the leaf up one third of the way, repeat with the next leaf, layering them altogether.
- Once complete, take the stem, make a hole through the leaves, and weave it through.
- Repeat until the crown is finished and parade through the village!

3. Forest Facts – The Golden Ratio
Fibonacci numbers or ‘Golden Numbers’, are the sum of the previous two numbers resulting in a ‘Golden Ratio’.

When out exploring Whistler, find a pinecone and look closely at it to decipher the spiral pattern. If you count these spirals your total will be a Fibonacci number!
